Climb to the Top with the Tallest Buildings in Chicago

The city of Chicago is famous for its skyscrapers, and this thriving metropolis is home to some of the tallest buildings in the country and the world. The world famous Chicago Sears Tower is currently the tallest building in the United States and the fifth tallest building in the world, rising an astonishing 1,451 feet into the Chicago sky. At 108 stories, the Sears Tower also holds the distinction as the building with the most floors in a completed building.

The Sears Tower also holds the distinction of being the tallest skyscraper in the world in terms of pinnacle height. The pinnacle height, including the antenna on its western side, is an amazing 1,730 feet.

A quick look around the Chicago skyline reveals that the Sears Tower is not the only tall building in town. Chicago boasts many skyscrapers that stretch far into the sky, including many of the tallest buildings in the country and the world. Some of the other tall buildings making Chicago famous include:

The Aon Center
Rising some 1,136 feet into the air, the Aon Center is the 3rd tallest building in the U.S. and the 16th tallest building in the world.

The John Hancock Center
Like the Sears Tower, the John Hancock Center is a Chicago landmark, rising nearly as high as the Aon Center at 1,127 feet. The John Hancock Center is currently the 4th tallest building in the country and the 18th tallest in the wider world.

The AT&T Corporate Center
At 1,0007 feet the AT&T Corporate Center building is the 9th tallest skyscraper in the U.S. and currently ranks as the 33rd tallest in the world.

Two Prudential Plaza
Rising nearly a thousand feet into the sky, the 995 foot tall Prudential Plaza is ranked as the 11th tallest in the United States and the 36th tallest in the world.

311 South Wacker Drive
This impressive element of the Chicago skyline rises 961 feet in the air and has the distinction of being the 14th tallest in the United States. This skyscraper also ranks as the 44th tallest building in the world.

900 North Michigan
The skyscraper at 900 North Michigan Avenue rises 871 feet high, making it the 24th tallest in the U.S. and the 74th tallest in the world.

Water Tower Place
This skyscraper rises 859 feet along the Chicago skyline and ranks as the 28th tallest building in the United States and the 85th tallest in the world.

The Chase Tower
The 850 foot tall Chase Tower stands as the 31st tallest building in the United States and the 97th tallest in the world.

The Park Tower
Last but certainly not least the famous Park Tower stands at 844 feet, making it the 34th tallest building in the country and the 103rd tallest in the world as a whole.
